We are Cat Advocacy Team
A 100% volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of community cats through Trap-Neuter-Return, advocacy, education, and rescue.
How It Started
One colony. One decision to act.
Cat Advocacy Team grew from a small group of neighbors who noticed a growing colony of stray cats near their homes. Rather than look away, they started learning. They bought traps, found low-cost clinics, and began doing TNR on their own. What started as a few neighbors helping a few cats quickly became a coordinated effort across multiple neighborhoods.
Today, our all-volunteer team has facilitated hundreds of TNR surgeries, helped cats find foster and forever homes, and educated the community on what it actually means to care for outdoor cats. We are not a shelter — we are advocates, trappers, foster coordinators, and educators working entirely on donated time and resources.
The Method
Why TNR Works
Trap-Neuter-Return is the only proven, humane method for stabilizing and reducing outdoor cat populations over time. Lethal control and relocation have repeatedly failed — TNR works because it addresses the root cause: uncontrolled reproduction.
Trap
Community cats are humanely trapped using box traps baited with food. The process is safe and stress-minimizing.
Neuter / Spay
Cats receive a full spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccine, and flea treatment. Their left ear tip is removed under anesthesia — the universal sign they've been sterilized.
Return
Recovered cats are returned to their original territory. Without the ability to reproduce, the colony stabilizes and shrinks naturally over time.
A single unspayed female cat can produce up to three litters per year. TNR stops that cycle at the source — humanely, permanently, and without removing cats from the community they call home.
